One Month Old!!

I spend time during the day looking at Mr. Elephant
I officially marked my first major milestone two days ago!  Cora must have known it was a special day for me because she was cranky when she came home from daycare and wanted all of Mommy and Daddys' attention.  I was okay with it because I got to do my favorite things, which are napping with Mommy and laying on Daddy's chest.
Yesteday, I had my one month checkup at the doctor.  The doctor said that I was looking healthy and I'm a strong, growing boy.  At my weight check, I weighed in at a whopping 9lbs 4oz.  That's almost 2lbs in two weeks!  I don't have to eat for long, but when I eat, I chow down.  That's what makes me grow big and strong.
The doctor also recommended more tummy time for me, so we started doing more of that.  I really don't mind it so much - actually it just makes me want to sleep.  So, for now I just use tummy time to give the back of my head a rest rather than strengthening my neck muscles.

Just Me and Mommy

Gazing at the butterfly mobile
It has been awfully quiet around the house during the day this week.  Daddy goes to work, Cora goes to school and it is just Mommy and me together during the day.  I still spend a good bit of time sleeping, but Mommy and Daddy are happy that I only wake up once during the middle of the night for a short snack.  I'm good about going right back to sleep so Mommy isn't cranky during the day.
Showing off my hairstyle!
If I don't say so myself, for a 4 week old baby, I have some good looking hair.  I get the greatest looks without any product.  Wait until I get a full head of hair - look out ladies!

I got to join the family on an excursion to the airport today, but I didn't see much because I chose to snooze the whole time.  There were a lot of loud noises that were somewhat bothersome, but it didn't keep me from enjoying my nap.

The First Weeks!

Let the Adventure Begin!!!  In the wee hours of May 26, I was preparing for my adventure.  Mommy was restless as she slept and when she woke up at 4:30 in the morning, she knew it was time.  At 6:45, Mommy and Daddy arrived at the hospital and the hooked Mommy up to monitors.   Everything was looking good for Mommy and me, I was even going easy on Mommy with contractions.  By 8AM, they moved Mommy to the delivery room and the doctor broke Mommy's water and I was ready for my entrance into the world!  Working together with Mommy, I helped out and she only had to push twice for my head and once for my body.  And like that, I was out at 9:06AM!  I didn't cry too much because I'm a big boy!  My first thoughts were, "WOW I have some great looking parents, and I am so happy to be able to stretch out my legs!"  After spending some time with Mommy and Daddy, I was weighed and bathed. At 6lbs 10oz I was a great size, not too big, but not too small.
My first time meeting big sister!
After a small snack, I was wrapped up tight and we traveled to our postpartum room.  After some napping, Daddy left for a while and when he returned I met another person in my family.  My big sister, Cora who couldn't stop moving and wanting to kiss me came to visit.  I am such a lucky guy to have a great family to join!

Mommy and I spent two days in the hospital.  She and I were together most of the time, but Daddy had to leave occasionally to take care of Cora.  When he was there, we spent lots of time together.  On May 28, Memorial Day, we went home!  I sat in the backseat with Cora and after short ride, which I slept through, we got home!  There were lots of familiar noises here, but they were much louder!
On Wednesday, May 30 we went to my follow up visit at the doctor.  While I was in the hospital I had lost some weight and I got down to 6lbs 2oz. By the time we got to the doctor though, I weighed 6lbs 8oz, just about back to my birthwieght.  The doctor was so pleased with my progress that he said I didn't have to come back until my two week checkup!

When we got home I got to see my bedroom for the first time!
My first sponge bath!
The first two weeks at home were nice.  I got to spend a lot of time with Mommy and Daddy while Cora was at daycare.  When she came home in the evenings, I got to spend time with her, mostly her giving me kisses.  The first week I was home I had my first sponge bath.  My umbilical chord hadn't yet fallen off, so no bathtime for me yet.  However, by the time I had my two week checkup the doctor pulled of what was left of my umbilical chord (it was just hanging on by the thread and Mommy and Daddy were too afraid to pull it off).  At my two week checkup I had gained a whole pound and again, I was healthy as a whistle!
They say that everything goes faster with the second baby.  The labor definitely went faster, I gained weight faster, I developed a rhythem with Mommy faster, and my social security card came just 2 1/2 short weeks after I was born!  I am an official citizen!
Shortly after my two week birthday, my Mimi and Papa came to visit.  They enjoyed meeting me and thought that I was a very cute baby.  Mimi stayed the entire week to help Mommy at home, so I got to spend extra time with her.  Although I spent a lot of time sleeping (as always) Mimi didn't mind.  She just like holding me.
Last weekend I got my first bath!  Mommy thought I was big enough for a real bath so she got the tub all filled up and soapy and I got to relax for a bit while she washed me. I didn't have a problem at all in the tub, I look forward to my next bath.
