Bellyflop!

The gym and swim class, plus lots of visits to the pool during the week with Mommy and on the weekend with Daddy has paid off. I'm bellyflopping off the side of the pool like a pro. I love it so much I can't stand it when Mommy has to take a break from catching my flops! On occasion to change things up, we enjoy a spin around the lazy river. Mommy decided that I am big enough now to enjoy my own tube to float independently on the river. It's fun! I'm also getting braver and braver about the water. Sometimes I will stick my ear into the water for a few seconds to hear what is happening under water and use today I was putting my head in the water! (Okay, it was just my chin and a little bit of my bottom lip but it counts.). Last weekend, Daddy set up the giraffe pool for us to beat the heat on a Friday evening.
Other than swimming, we've been spending quite a bit of time inside. It's been REALLY HOT outside, it feels like walking into an oven when you go out the door. Mommy always finds a new activity for us though. This week I designed a mask and she cut it out for me to I could wear it. Maybe I should start selling them for Halloween!?!!?

Just the Two of Us

Now that Cora is back to school, I've been missing her an awful lot. It's up to Mommy to entertain me, although we do have fun together. If we aren't swimming, we spend time inside playing games, reading, doing puzzles, building blocks and cleaning (I'm really good at it) to beat the mid summer heat outside. I'm her little sidekick joining her at meetings and running errands.
Not long after the 4th of July, Daddy took the bedrails off of my bed so now I am in a true big bed. I haven't fallen out of it and I'm sleeping pretty well at night. After the holidays I also started a Gym and Swim class at the fitness center. I get to enjoy a class in the gym followed by swim lessons in the indoor pool. Ms Cheryl is a great teacher and I try hard not to cry in anticipation of getting in the pool. Sometimes I just get upset about the thought of going under the water. Hopefully my class will teach me that swimming is fun and I need to be more relaxed in the pool.

Vacation in Pennsylvania

We had a great summer visit to Pennsylvania to visit Grammie and Gramps. Highlights of my trip would have to be Delgrosso's, the Kinzua Bridge, staying over at camp, and going to the movies although we had non-stop fun the entire week at the Carnival.

Cora and I had been waiting all week for the drive to Pennsylvania on Saturday because we knew we would get to stop at our favorite spot along the way - Delgrosso's! My most favorite ride would have to be the helicopters and turtle train. My least favorite was the drop. Mom laughed at me the entire time we were on the ride while I screamed hysterically. I preferred to stay around the Kiddie rides. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the park then finished our day with a ride on the train before hopping in the car and heading the rest of the way to Grammie and Gramps' house. We were pooped just as our trip was starting, but with a good night's rest, we were ready to tackle another adventure.

On Sunday we had a relaxing morning followed by and afternoon trip to the Kinzua bridge, a fascinating place that I just couldn't stop talking about. It was this really tall steel railroad bridge that got blown over by a tornado. We were able to walk across the bridge up to the point where it collapsed. They had a cool glass floor where you could look all the way down to the valley below it. Then, we took a hike down a very steep trail that took us to the bottom so that we could look up at the bridge and climb on the footings. By the time we left I felt like an expert on the Kinzua bridge explaining to anyone who would listen how it got to be the way it is. On the way home we stopped by a cemetery to visit my great grandparents.

Monday, we needed a day to rest and relax to we could prepare for our trip to camp. Cora made a list of activities to do on our rest day which included shopping at Pfaffs and going to the park. On Tuesday and Wednesday we had our camp trip. This year, we got to spend the night in the trailer after a fun day of camp activities. We played games, rode the side by side, had a picnic, hit a pinata, made smores, and released sky lanterns. We stayed up late and by the time we went to bed, I fell fast asleep. In the morning we woke up to a yummy breakfast then headed outside for more fun. We played some more, went up the road to visit the horses, made mountain pies and finished with a ride up the hill in the side by side. It was so much fun to stay at camp! When we returned Wednesday evening, we went straight downtown to see the Budweiser Clydesdales! It was interesting seeing the size of the horses and how they pulled the wagon, but even more impressive was the truck that carried the horses! WOW!
On Thursday and Friday we needed more time to relax from all our fun although we still managed to fit in activities. We got to go to Memorial Park to play and bake apple pies with Grammie and Gramps! Thursday night we walked downtown to the movie theater (my first time at the movies) where we watched Finding Dory. It was fun munching on popcorn and drinking soda for a special movie treat! I'm pretty sure that Cora and I will need lots of rest when we get home, not to mention Grammie and Gramps! What a fun summer vacation!

A Visit to Virginia

We took a weekend trip to Virginia over the weekend (June 18) to visit Mike and Sandy to celebrate Kaitlyn's graduation from high school. Grammie and Gramps were there along with a bunch of people that I didn't know, but I had fun at the party eating, swimming, swinging and running around the yard with Lauren playing soccer. When it was time for bed, we got to spend the night in a hotel (I'm not sure Daddy got a whole lot of sleep in bed with me) and when we woke up the next morning we went to a restaurant where we ate brunch to celebrate Grammie's retirement. I enjoyed drinking out of a big glass after saying cheers with everyone. It was a great weekend seeing family!
