Big Bed!!!

There was so much going on when Mimi came to visit, I forgot to mention that I now sleep in a big bed!!! Mommy and Daddy are proud of me for doing so well in my big bed. The first time I went to take a nap, I was a bit apprehensive about it, but I slept through my first night in it with no problem. I enjoy it much more than my crib because at bedtime I can walk myself right into bed. I only had one mishap the first week crawling out of my bed. Once Daddy figured out what was happening he adjusted my bed rail. Before that, I was able to wiggle between the wall and the rail and get out of bed; one morning when Mommy came to wake me up she found me sleeping face down in the middle of the floor! It wasn't that bad, so I didn't feel the need to let them know anything had happened. I really love my BIG BEEEED (as I call it) and am glad that I'm done with my crib!!!

Ice Cold to Ice Cream

The weather recently has been so crazy. One day it will be freezing, and the next we're breaking out the short sleeves! One of the days where it was warm and beautiful, we went out for ice cream as a special treat! I had fun sharing a blizzard with Daddy.
With all the cold weather, we need indoor activities to enjoy. On Wednesdays, Mommy takes me to story time at the library while Cora is at school. If I'm lucky, after story time she let's me explore the board books at the library and sometimes I get to take some home!

Mr Chatterbox

Just in the past week alone, I have become quite the little chatterbox. Sometimes my chit chat makes sense, and others it doesn't. What I can say, is that whenever I am asked a question, I answer it! More often than not, I answer "yes". I will answer "no" if needed though. Sometimes I answer "good" to a yes or no question so I've still got some work to do.
Mimi came to visit this week! First and foremost, she noticed that I looked much more like a toddler than a baby. Then, she was thrilled that I was much more able to express myself. I had fun doing puzzles with her and making her laugh when we visited Marbles museum. I had so much fun at the museum! My favorite part was driving the ambulance and exploring the helicopter. There was so much to see and do, none of the other kids bothered me and I didn't even care if I wandered away from Mommy. When we were done inside the museum, we went outside for a picnic lunch. Speaking of eating, I surprised Mommy the other day when I correctly identified a mango that she brought home from the supermarket. I seem to know my food words fairly well. I need some work on my colors, because right now every color is yellow to me! I guess if I'm going to practice saying any of the colors, yellow is the best choice since it's the hardest to say!

Scooting Along

My favorite after dinner activity is quick scooting on my "cycle" (as I call it) around the kitchen. Since my feet still don't reach the pedals, I have to push with my feet. That doesn't stop me from going fast or maneuvering around the dishwasher and refrigerator doors. Cora is much better at sharing with me, so I get to use my cycle quite a bit. The weather is getting warmer outside and I'm excited for when I get to ride my cycle outside. I think I've proven that I'm ready for the challenge!
I am also proud to announce that I am finally getting my last four teeth. Just today while brushing teeth, Daddy noticed two of my last four teeth poking through my gums. That explains my irritability, and lack of appetite. I'm glad this is the last hurrah with my teeth! It's only taken 22 months!

Practice Makes Perfect

Aside from all of the excitement of crazy holidays, street fairs, and the crazy weather (cold, warm, cold warm), I have been spending days practicing new words and eating/drinking. In the mornings when relaxing with our milk in the big bed, Mommy helps Cora drink all of her milk out of her cup by taking off the top. I have decided that by doing this, you can get more milk, so I have been asking Mommy for help getting the rest of the milk out of my cup. Sometimes I make a mess when the milk dribbles out the side of my mouth, but each day I get better and better. Before I know it, I'll be drinking out of a big kid cup just like Cora. Speaking of big kids cups, I've also gotten tall enough to reach inside the silverware drawer to pick out a utensil for eating. I've been choosing grown up forks to eat my meals - it's probably not the most ideal utensil, but it is helping immensely with my hand-mouth coordination.
As I mentioned, there have been some great excuses to eat candy and cookies and get lots of great presents. Valentine's Day brought Valentine's in the mail, while Mardi Gras allowed me to walk down the street with a balloon pirate sword. Too bad it popped less than 20 minutes after I got it. I actually think I waited longer for the balloon than actual time with my balloon. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
As a note to anyone concerned: the pooping on the potty was a short-lived fad. It is no longer fun and I prefer to stay away from it for now. The screaming that ensues when Mommy asks me if I want to go on the potty is similar to all other meltdowns caused by me not getting my way. Or Cora taking something from me, or having to go inside when I don't want to come in, or having to get out of the bathtub, or stop brushing my teeth, wanting more milk. The list goes on and on. I have one explanation. I'm almost two.
