My First Birthday!!

I have made it! Twelve months! And celebrate we did to commemorate my first big milestone! Beautiful weather for the entire weekend made my day even better! Grammie and Gramps came to visit and celebrate my birthday. We spent lots of time outside and I had fun opening presents. The birthday cakes were pretty, but I didn't really care for eating them. Maybe next year. I am really tired from playing with all my new toys, so instead of writing all about my big day, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Daddy thought I would like the icing...

My piece of birthday cake! Now you see it...

...now you don't. And I didn't eat a single piece, my face is clean.

Just in Time for My Big Day

I had it planned all the time. I would start walking a week before my birthday, that way on my actual birthday I would be a pro. So, this is how it is. I'm like a walking zombie with my hands dangling out in front of me. I can make it from point A to point B all by myself, unless Cora gets in my way. I still need help standing, and sometimes I take off a little too fast and fall over. With my walker, I can run wherever I want to go and if I fall over, I can get right back up. It will be a great holiday weekend and I hope that my 1st birthday will be a blast!!

Outdoor Adventures

As soon as I can start walking, I think there's a lot of fun in store for me! It seems like we are outside all the time these days - and if I could walk I wouldn't have to sit and watch Cora have all the fun. We went strawberry picking this weekend and I had to sit and watch everybody picking strawberries. For the most part I was entertained, but it would have been better to go pick a strawberry and squish it in my hands. I wasn't bound to the stroller the whole time however, I got to swing in a car, which was a good time. Hopefully next time we visit the farm, I will get to try some ice cream!
I'm still up to my old tricks crawling around everywhere and rather than trying new words, I've started buzzing my lips. It's typically my activity while I wait for everyone to finish their dinner. Cora has figured out that I'm a pretty sturdy guy and she has been hugging me a lot these days. It's either that, or she's screaming at me if I barely touch her. She's so touchy these days...although I'm not one to talk. If Mommy gets up and walks away, I follow her screaming.

My First Mother's Day

Although I can't do much to express my gratitude for mother's day, I guess the next best thing I can do is just look cute. I'm pretty good at doing that. I love you, Mommy! Can't you see it in my big blue eyes and two little teeth??? Oh, and when you are out mowing the lawn and I stare out the front window at you the entire time...nothing says I love you quite like that either.
The walking thing is still a little ways off, but I was able to impress Daddy with my ability to turn my walker around all by myself. He was pretty impressed, and I hope it makes up for the fact that I don't really feel like walking just yet!

May the Fourth Be with You

Cora "washing" my hair...
Mommy and Daddy will mark the Fourth of May as the day that I took the most steps in my career as a walker. This talk I heard about me "taking a break from walking" and "not being interested in walking" has inspired me to try once again. I am best at walking when I have already been standing and I can walk towards Mommy and Daddy. I am a slowly but surely kind of kid; I don't see the rush in doing things too fast.
This weekend as we were sitting at the dinner table, Mommy noticed that somehow Daddy and I matched. While I secretly think Daddy had it planned the whole time, it was certainly a Kodak moment. I'll take any opportunity to cuddle with my Daddy. Right now I have this strange habit of repeatedly touching my mouth and nose to his skin. He has nice, soft skin. Hopefully I have inherited his skin. Maybe the more times I touch my nose to it, the better chance I have.
