Just Like Daddy

It's so funny how people always try to compare what people looked like as babies and say that you look like them...if you ask me all babies look alike.  Big heads, cute button noses, soft rolls of skin and fuzzy hair (if they have it).  Just to confirm that I did indeed come from Mommy and Daddy, Mommy decided to show me a picture of what Daddy looked like as a baby.  What do you think? Do we look alike??  Or do I look like Mommy?
This week it's just me and Mommy again.  She is starting to work with me on my neck strength.  When my belly isn't too full, she holds me on the medicine ball looking in the mirror so I can see how my progress is coming.  When we aren't on the ball, she tries to sit me in different positions and makes me move my head back and forth.  All this exercise is hard work, but it will all pay off when I can hold my head up on my own and I don't have any bald spots on my head!

Excitement!

A lot can happen in a week, let me tell you!  Shortly after I posted to my blog last week, Daddy came home and noticed that my head was feeling warmer than normal.  He took my temperature and it was a little high, but not so bad.  Unfortunately, after Cora went to bed, my fever got much higher (higher than the recommended 100.4) and I had to go to the emergency room because babies like me do not have a very developed immune system so a fever is reason for worry.  Anyways, I had A LOT of tests done on Thursday night.  I had my first IV and I was hooked up to all types of monitors.  Mommy spent the night with me on Thursday night in the emergency room and on Friday morning Daddy came to be with us and we moved to a room in the pediatric hospital.  I had to keep the monitors on all the time and when I got hungry or tired or upset about my wet diaper the machine would beep.  I had a splint on my arm where my IV was and every time I adjusted myself while sleeping, it would hit the side of my bassinet and wake me up.  It was so weird being back in the hospital, but thankfully Mommy and Daddy were there with me so it wasn't so bad.  On Friday afternoon, Daddy left to be with Cora and Mommy spent the night with me.
By Saturday morning all of my tests came back and there was nothing wrong with me.  Just a little virus that gave me a fever.... the virus was causing my belly to hurt every time Mommy burped me, but by the time we went home from the hospital I was feeling much better.  I was glad to be home!!
I also had a surprise on Saturday afternoon!  Grammie and Grandpa came to visit! It was nice to finally meet them!  They brought me some outfits that Daddy wore when he was a baby.  When I am big enough I can't wait to try them on to look just like Daddy!  It was nice that they were there to help out because Mommy and Daddy were tired from my visit to the hospital.  I appreciated them holding me a lot and Mommy and Daddy appreciated them cooking for us!

My first July 4th was fairly uneventful.  First it was really hot outside, then it stormed in the afternoon so we didn't do a whole lot.  I will remember though that Daddy gave me my first bottle!  The formula in the bottle didn't taste too bad and it wasn't too hard getting used to the bottle.  I do like eating with Mommy, but it was nice to eat with Daddy too!
Mommy thinks I'm very close to smiling.  I have already smiled numerous times, but its usually in my sleep or for no real reason.  She keeps making funny faces at me or trying to tickle me - one of these days I'll decide to smile for her!  It will be a surprise!  Cora has been much better around me too.  She is really good at giving me kisses and high fives.  She also likes to giggle at me, I must make her laugh. For the most part, she is doing a great job as my big sister!
